SAPIENS
(A
Poem For Gwendolyn Brooks)
by George Edward Tait |
|
Behold the brook of Gwendolyn
Indelible ink flow from wellspring of whirling words
From private world of word perfect.
Behold a baptism of love and learning -
The brook of Gwendolyn.
Watch the words as they wade in the water of her work
As they submerge into the syntax of selflessness.
Behold!
Fish in the steady stream of her consciousness
& feed the multitude.
Their spirits starved for sustenance and substance.
Hear the hunger of platinum pangs;
Hush the hunger.
Feed them from the brook of biting brilliance,
& let them masticate on the metaphors of her mind.
Behold!
Watch the words as they walk on the water of her work
As they emerge into the etymology of enlightenment.
