THE GHANA
DHANCE
by
George Edward Tait
|
Feet full of mindset and memory
Tapping to the tune of total recall
Feet in the frolic of fertile soil
Dhancing with dhignified dhelirium
While walking all over Ghod's Ghana.
The dhrums never stop - not in the dhark
Not for the light.
Even in silence they trade fours with the feet
Dhrumbeats of motherland call and dhiasporic response
Of rhythm once removed.
Feet full of focus and fact
Hoofing in the land of history and heritage
Of ghold and ghlory.
Feet in the matrix of a metaphysical moment
Highstepping all over Ghod's heaven.
Heaven.
Heaven.
Heartbeating all over Ghod's heaven.
Feet full of freedom and forecast
Sunsliding to syncopated songs of soul
To sacred sagas of spirit.
Body bristling with buoyancy, and breathing with bliss
Ghraced by the ghreen ghlow of Ghana's ghrasslands
Torso-turning on the tradition-tested terrain of time and truth
Dhoing a dhance to the dhawn/Dhoing an dhance in the dusk
While whirling with the wind, and whispering, whispering,
"Feet, feet, feet, feet - feet dhon't fail me now."
